A Simple and Classic Cocktail Recipe
In honor of my sister’s birthday, I made her favorite cocktail: the Cosmo. With cranberry juice, orange liquor, and lime juice, it is a perfect mixture of not too sweet and slightly tart. The base recipe is from Ina Garden, and at the suggestion of my brother-in-law we added a few dashes of orange bitters to really elevate the flavors.

ToggleIna says to use “good vodka”, such as Grey Goose. We have done a side by side comparison of several vodkas including Grey Goose compared to the Kirkland Signature vodka, and it’s Costco ftw! In a blind taste test, the Kirkland vodka won by a landslide. So, that is what I use in all of my vodka recipes and I highly recommend you check it out!
Since no one wants to mix each drink separately, I followed the Barefoot Contessa’s idea of making this as a large batch in a pitcher and then individually shaking the drinks with ice and straining into a martini glass. Just to be fancy, I added some frozen cranberries into the glass. It also helps keep the drink super cold even in Florida, which is the key to a great martini-esque drink.
Our martini glasses are from Ikea, where I buy almost all of my glassware. I do love this set of unbreakable glasses which is great by the pool! This set is also super cool since they are stemless and less easy to tip over.
