The Perfect Apple Cocktail for Fall
We’re 3 weeks in to fall and it’s still 90 degrees here in Florida. It’s hard to imagine wearing scarves, flannel, and boots! I love all things fall and, even moreso, all things pumpkin. The closest I’ve gotten though to the typical #PSL is a cold brew with pumpkin cream, made from almond milk of course. It is so not the same, but it is just too. hot. to drink a hot latte.

ToggleI’ve seen several cocktails on Pinterest where pumpkin pie spice or canned pumpkin are combined with alcohol to make a fall themed cocktail. I would rather save my pumpkin for the coffee, the granola, the waffles, and the pie, and flavor my cocktails with all the other fall ingredients. Apples, pears, and warm spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, clove and ginger.
I wasn’t sure how the combination of spiced apple cider would go with the ginger beer in a Moscow Mule, but after we played around with the proportions I think we ended up with a well balanced not too sweet and not too tart concoction.
Of course, you don’t have to serve these in a copper mug. But I highly recommend it because they truly keep your drink ice cold (much needed in this heat). Also, copper just screams fall to me. So you can set some of these mugs out as decoration and just grab them when it’s cocktail time! This set of 4 is so gorgeous and comes with matching straws 🙂

You can use any kind of ginger beer you prefer. I’ve tried a few, this one from Trader Joe’s is on the sweeter side which David prefers. I like the kick of ginger in a mule, so I’ve been using Gosling’s ginger beer. Either way you can’t go wrong!
This cocktail has such bold flavors, it pairs very well with the Zuppa Toscana soup I made earlier this week. And if you like this cocktail, try the Spiced Apple: Apples and cinnamon whiskey bring the spice level up a notch!
Let me know what you think about this drink, and if you have any ideas for new recipes you would like to see in the future!
