How to Get to Grand Teton National Park
Grand Teton National Park is located in the heart of the picturesque Rocky Mountain range in northwestern Wyoming. If you are flying in, the conveniently-located Jackson Hole Airport is the only commercial airport located within a national park in the United States! Otherwise, the closest international airports are located in Denver or Salt Lake City.
Renting a vehicle is highly recommended to fully experience the breathtaking scenery and surroundings of the Tetons, as public transportation is not available. This will give you the incredible freedom to explore and discover all of the stunning scenic drives that Grand Teton has to offer. Get ready for an unforgettable adventure filled with awe-inspiring sights and majestic views!
The Best Views and Scenic Drives in Teton National Park
The Teton Range offers some of the most breathtaking scenery in the United States, and the landscape changes around every turn. There are several scenic drives in the park that offer spectacular views of the rugged mountain range and the surrounding wilderness. Teton Park Road is the main route through the park and offers stunning views of the towering peaks, as well as access to several trailheads and scenic overlooks.
Oxbow Bend
Oxbow Bend is undoubtedly one of the most breathtakingly famous places in Grand Teton National Park, and it’s easy to see why. The sunset views are absolutely awe-inspiring. And the best part is this viewpoint is completely accessible -all it takes is pulling over to capture an absolutely stunning picture. Even better, Oxbow Bend doesn’t discriminate when it comes to seasons. No matter when you visit, you are guaranteed to experience mesmerizing views.

Snake River Overlook
The Snake River Overlook, made famous by Ansel Adams in his iconic picture of the Tetons, is undeniably one of the most majestic locations you can visit in the park. The breathtaking views at sunrise and sunset inspire a sense of awe and wonder that makes you pause and appreciate the beauty of nature.
Despite its popularity, it’s still easily accessible and a must-see for anyone who loves nature photography. With photo opportunities right from the parking lot, it’s a chance to capture the essence of this magnificent place in all its glory.
When planning any trip to a National Park we highly recommend the America the Beautiful National Parks Pass. We visited Teton National Park for several days and then went into Yellowstone, so the pass paid for itself on just one trip. If you are planning on visiting more than 2 parks a year, the pass is definitely worth your investment. At some parks it even saves you time entering the park, as you can bypass the normal lines and drive right in!
Colter Bay
Colter Bay Marina is nestled on the picturesque shores of Jackson Lake in the north end of the national park. Travelers can find the marina by driving north from Moose Junction on the John D. Rockefeller Highway.
The marina offers an array of activities and amenities for visitors to enjoy, including boat rentals, fishing gear and licenses, and a convenience store stocked with snacks and drinks. From here you can take a scenic boat tour or explore the lake on your own, taking in the stunning views of the Teton Mountains along the way!

If you’re looking for a great place to stay inside Grand Teton National Park, the Colter Bay Campground is a family-friendly destination that offers several activities for kids, the best of which is hanging out on the shores of Jackson Lake. The campground also has a playground and a visitor center with interactive exhibits. During the summer, the park rangers organize educational programs and guided walks for children, where they can learn about the local flora, fauna, and geology of the park.

Signal Mountain Summit Road
The Signal Mountain Summit Road takes visitors to the top of Signal Mountain for panoramic views of Jackson Hole and the Teton Range. The Signal Mountain Summit offers an observation and parking area where you can take in the beauty of the surrounding area.
Although the drive leading up to Signal Mountain Summit is narrow with several switchbacks, it’s a small price to pay for the incredible views awaiting you. This 5-mile road is easily accessible right off of Teton Park Road, so you won’t have to go too far out of your way to see this natural wonder. Because the road is so narrow, RV’s and trailers are prohibited from this drive.
Moose-Wilson Road
The Moose-Wilson Road is an 8-mile scenic drive between the city of Moose, going past Teton Village and ending in the city of Wilson. This drive is a slow scenic route through hillsides, dense forests, and wetlands and is a very popular location for spotting moose (hence the name).
After several days of searching, this is actually where we finally saw our first moose sighting! We’ve also spotted elk, mule deer, and bears driving this road. No matter what time of day you take this scenic drive in the Tetons you are bound to see some sort of wildlife.

42 Mile Scenic Loop Drive
If you want to see all of these sights we’ve listed and more, take the 42 mile scenic loop drive. You can drive in either direction. Just to drive the loop takes 1-2 hours, with stops it could take a good part of the day. Pick up a map at one of the park entry points or a visitor center, and all of the highlights are marked on the scenic drive. This is a must when visiting the area and offers some of the best views of Grand Teton National Park!

There are three entry points for the Teton Park Scenic Drive Loop. From Jackson, enter at Moose Junction. Travelers coming from Yellowstone will follow the Rockefeller, Jr. Parkway and enter the park at the Jackson Lake Junction. For those coming from the east, drive over Togwotee Pass and enter the park at Moran Junction.
Willow Flats Overlook
The Willow Flats scenic overlook is a flat, grassy area surrounded by a dense forest and overlooks the Snake River. In the summer, the area is filled with blooming wildflowers and grazing wildlife such as deer, elk, and even moose. In the winter, the snow-covered landscape transforms the area into a winter wonderland.
Willow Flats is an excellent spot for photography and a great place to stop to take in the beauty of the park. Visitors can access the overlook via the pathway that runs from Jackson Hole to Jenny Lake.
Jenny Lake Scenic Drive
The Jenny Lake Scenic Drive offers some of the most picturesque views of the Tetons, right in the heart of Grand Teton National Park. Along this 7-mile drive, visitors can experience stunning vistas of the Teton Range and hike through forests and meadows that are home to diverse wildlife.
Jenny Lake marks the start of several great hikes in the Tetons. The Cascade Canyon Trail takes hikers to Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point, while the Paintbrush Canyon Trail leads deeper into the backcountry. The out-and-back Jenny Lake Loop Trail is a popular option for those looking for a shorter hike, and offers views of the lake and surrounding mountains.

Grand Teton National Park offers some of the most breathtaking scenery in the Rocky Mountains, and all of these drives and overlooks offer opportunities to stop and explore the natural beauty of the area. When planning a trip to this park, be sure to make time for some of these scenic drives in the Tetons!
