Simple Bloody Mary Cocktail Recipe
I feel there are several cocktail recipes that everyone should be able to know how to create, the classic Bloody Mary recipe being one of them. This is a drink that you can cater to any spice level. It can be a fun Sunday brunch drink, or an entire meal in a cup depending on what garnishes you use. My sister had a late morning wedding and served brunch, with a complete Bloody Mary bar to create your own concoction!

ToggleI put in a few plastic eyeballs this Halloween and served the drinks with bacon on Saturday morning. It is such a fun and versatile drink.
This Orange Rosemary Bourbon cocktail is another creation that works well for Halloween because of the deep orange color. It is also a perfect fall drink that is great for sipping!
The base recipe for a Bloody Mary is simple: vodka, V8 or tomato juice, and a really good mix. There are several on the market, I’ve tried most of them, and we always end up coming back to using Zing Zang. It is affordable, super tasty, and can be found at any grocery store or online here. It is not too spicy which is good for a starting point, you can always increase the spice but it is hard to take it away.

Add the vodka, V8 juice, and Bloody Mary mix of your choice into a cocktail shaker and shake well. You can pour your drinks into individual glasses now if you want to fully control each level of spice (I like mine just like this, my husband adds to his), or you can go ahead and turn up the heat. Add 3-5 dashes of hot sauce like Cholula or Sriracha, add crushed black pepper, or even 1 tsp of horseradish will spice things up!
Ideas for Garnishes
Where you can get really creative is with the garnishes. Typical Bloody Mary drinks have celery and celery seed added to the drink. Most also have olives- these can be regular pimento-stuffed olives, or fancy large olives that are filled with garlic, almonds, or blue cheese. Yum!
More ideas that I have seen in this drink that are really fun to stack:
- Bacon or sausage
- Mini waffles and a chicken tender
- Small slider hamburger
- Hard boiled egg
- Grilled cheese triangle
- Pickled okra
- Dill pickle spear
- Cooked shrimp
- Asparagus spear
- Bacon wrapped jalapeño
- Skewer of cheese cubes
If you can fit it on top of the glass, it works! Let me know your ideas, and if you try this recipe tag me on Instagram so I can see!
Enjoy!
